We hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and great break with your families and friends.
This week we have started our new literacy topic based on The Magic Paintbrush story. We are half way through reading the story and have discovered a paintbrush that paints things that then come alive! We painted our own pictures of things to help the poor such as beds, clothes, money and food and used our imaginations to think about what Shen may paint to help her escape from the Emperor’s prison. We have looked at the celebration of Chinese New Year, where China is on a world map, sang songs and made red lanterns to decorate our classroom.
In Maths we have been ordering numbers 1-10 and thinking about positions such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, last, before, after and inbetween.
It may be winter, but that has not stopped our dafodil bulbs from beginning to grow! We planted these in autumn so we are so excited to finally see signs of them growing!
In phonics we have began to learn some new digraphs and even a trigraph (3 letters make 1 sound!) – see the phonics link below.
Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
